Farmers from 10 states have started a 10-day strike on Friday for not getting the right prices for their crops. According to a Dainik Bhaskar report, 130 farmers’ organisations have called for the country-wide strike.
Police have called for high-alert in some areas of Madhya Pradesh.
Farmers in both Madhya Pradesh and Punjab have announced that they will not supply milk and vegetables to other states, including Delhi.
In Haryana and Punjab farmers threw milk and vegetable on the road as a mark of protest.
The condition in Rajasthan remained normal.
National Kisan Mazdoor Mahasangh’s leader Shiv Kumar Sharma has requested the traders to co-operate with the farmers.
A non-cooperation movement will be celebrated on June 8. There will be a bandh all across the country on June 10.
MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan held a meeting with the top police officers at around 10 pm on Thursday night.
Madhya Pradesh:
The state is on high alert as the farmers’ agitation here is a long-standing one. Last year six farmers were killed in a police gunfire in Mandsaur when they were protesting.
Police declared high-alert in Mandsaur-Neemuch route in the state.
According to IG Intelligence Makrand Dausskar, Mandsaur Police has divided the city into 20 zones. In 100 places, cameras are set and force has been deployed, dividing the highway connecting Mandsaur, Ratlam and Neemuch into 10 sectors.
Section 144 applies to districts of Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Gwalior etc.
Social media is also being monitored here.
The farmers said milk and vegetables will not reach the market. It will be stocked in Mandsaur and Ratlam for the next 10 days.
Farmers’ Woes
The farmers have alleged that the government’s new Bhavantar Yojana has benefitted traders more than farmers.
The government’s promise of providing farmers with 1.5 times more than the cost of production as MSP has not been fulfilled, they said.
Farmers in MP have been committing suicide rampantly. Some of them had kept their son as mortgage because of the heavy debt.

Opposition Move
On June 6, Rahul Gandhi will visit the protestors who are on strike in Madhya Pradesh commemorating the death of six farmers who died in the police firing last year to stand in solidarity with them.
State’s farmer Congress Committee will collect soil from farms of those farmers who committed suicide due to the debt burden. They will then join the protest in Ratlam.
Patidar reservation activist from Gujarat Hardik Patel is also going to join the protest, reports suggested.
