In yet another case of mob violence, a police constable was reportedly beaten to death on Saturday, July 13 by a mob in in Rajasthan’s Rajsamand district.
The victim, 48-year-old Abdul Ghani, was investigating and had gone to the site of a land dispute where an argument broke out and the mob attacked him, reported NDTV.
The constable sustained grievous injuries after which he was taken to the community centre where he died.
The report added that senior police officers in the state have reached the area and are trying to identify the perpetrators.
Ghani is the second police official to have been attacked and killed by a violent mob since last year. In December 2018 in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandhshahr district, a rampaging mob had killed inspector Subodh Kumar Singh.
Several people, most of them belonging to minority communities, have been targeted by violent mobs in the last few years. The police constable’s murder is proof that the violence shows no sigs of abating.
