#KarnatakaElections: BJP dreaming of forming government, says Kharge

Just hours after polling for assembly elections began in Karnataka on Saturday, senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge took a jibe at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying the saffron outfit will not win more than 60-70 seats. “They are just “dreaming” of forming a government in Karnataka, he said.

“We (Congress) are confident. BJP will not win more than 60-70 seats maximum, forget getting 150. They are just dreaming of forming the Government,” said Kharge.

Criticising the BJP’s RSS-motivated ideology, Kharge said it won’t cut ice with the people in Karnataka.

Kharge had said on Tuesday that the May 12 polls are an “ideological fight” between the Congress and the BJP-RSS. “They (RSS-BJP) are implementing their own agenda. Weaker sections and minorities feel insecure under the BJP and RSS-supported government,” he said.

He said that the BJP-led NDA has not fulfilled its election promises, while the Siddaramaiah government in Karnataka has implemented several schemes and welfare programmes.

The BJP deployed RSS workers for door-to-door canvassing and also roped in Central ministers to the campaign. “This itself shows that they (BJP) are afraid of the Congress,” Kharge added.

The coming election is “very important and crucial” as it would send a “message” that “whatever the BJP is doing, on the advice of RSS, people are not going to accept”, he said.

“This will teach them a lesson to mend (ways), (and) to act according to the Constitutional methods,” Kharge added.
