Fearing more empty rallies, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hired four trains at a cost of Rs 53 lakh to ferry people from Jhargram, Lalgola, Purulia and Rampurhat to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Kolkata’s iconic Brigade Parade Ground on Wednesday.
As per reports, a railways official told Anandabazar Patrika that the BJP has hired four special trains as per the guidelines of the Election Commission. The trains were booked through ‘Flat Tariff Rate,’ which is a fixed rent.

To protect the audience members from the scorching heat, the saffron party also covered the space in which the rally was held, West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh reportedly said.
Earlier, Modi’s political rally at Wardha in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut reportedly witnessed a low turnout. Social media was flooded by pictures of the mostly empty rally ground, with crowds scattered at places.
