The incident of BJP Sant Kabir Nagar MP Sharad Tripathi beating party’s MLA Rakesh Baghel with a shoe had barely left the news cycle before another BJP leader, this time the Saharanpur district president, was caught on video attempting to hit a farmers’ leader with a shoe on Thursday.
Per a report in Jansatta, during a debate organised by a local news channel in Saharanpur, BJP district president Vijendra Kashyap claimed that the as a result of the pressure from Yogi Adityanath government in the state, sugar mills had paid about 60 per cent of sugarcane farmers’ pending dues.
However, a local Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Arun Rana responded that Kashyap’s claim was false. Rana reportedly said, “I have the sugarcane department’s data with me. According to this, in the last two years, only 15 per cent of the dues have been paid to sugarcane farmers.”
