The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, March 21, nominated rape-accused former minister Nihal Chand Chauhan from Rajasthan’s Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency again.
A married woman had alleged that Chauhan and 16 others raped her for ten months in Jaipur in 2011 after sedating her. She said that once she was not drugged properly and only then she realised that they were sexually exploiting her. In October 2017, a Jaipur Court rejected a petition challenging the closure of rape charge against the BJP MP. In August 2018, he was reportedly dropped as MoS in the Ministry of Panchayat Raj.
In the first list of the saffron party, 184 names have been released. BJP senior leader LK Advani didn’t get nominated from Gujarat capital Gandhinagar and has been replaced by Amit Shah.
