Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Thursday, February 28 reportedly commented on state BJP chief BS Yeddyurappa’s remark that the Indian Air Force’s strike at terror camps in Balakot will “help BJP win 22 seats“, saying that it is not just Yeddyurappa but the entire Modi government that is playing politics over the death of our soldiers.
“Women have become widows, families have lost their sons but the BJP leaders are making politics on this. This shows they are shameless,” he said, reported Bosky Khanna in the Deccan Herald.
Giving the example of previous central governments who have handled wartime situations, the Janata Dal (Secular) leader reportedly said, “Wars have happened in time of Indira Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri but no one played politics on this.”
“The defence people bombed and came but BJP party workers are distributing sweets and bursting crackers as though they directed and it was conquered,” Kumaraswamy reportedly added.
BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, have been slammed for making political speeches and attending BJP functions amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, even as an IAF pilot was captured by Pakistani forces.
