Activists, journalists on Twitter urged the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the Delhi police to take immediate action against Delhi MLA Kapil Mishra who released a video on Monday, February 25 openly calling for violence against many including Barkha Dutt, Sheila Rashid, Kavita Krishnan, Swara Bhaskar and Naseeruddin Shah.

Rashid, who has been targeted by Mishra in the past, appealed to Delhi Police Commissioner saying, “Dear @IPSMadhurVerma ji, this person who has a huge following and is an MLA from Delhi, is giving an open, emotive call to people to enter our homes, drag us to the streets and lynch us.”

Tagging the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, journalist Barkha Dutt tweeted, “What a revolting man. This is direct incitement to violence and lynchijg (sic) and merits a jail term and account being scrapped.”

Activist Kavitha Krishnan asked if Twitter and Youtube, the two platforms where Mishra has shared his video, and Delhi Police Commissioner Madhur Verma will act against Mishra.

Mishra, in the video, proclaims that “these anti-nationals must be dragged out of their homes to the streets.” Last week, Mishra had sparked outrage by posting a series of misogynist tweets and calling for genocide.

It remains to be seen if any action is taken against Mishra or he gets away with his hate mongering on social media like most right-wing trolls.
