Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) kicked-off on Thursday, January 24 but more excitingly, JLF Insider, the Twitter handle which provides regular unfiltered commentary on the happenings at the world’s largest literature festival (and networking event), has started live tweeting.
Here are some of the updates from Day 1:
We are now talking about Sabarimala. Sachin is saying there should be complete equality for women BUT IN THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE we have to be sensitive to the local views and respect people’s sentiments my eyes have rolled out of my head and onto the stage

Bee Rowlatt’s take down of Manu Joseph last year is still fresh in our minds, and JLF Insider is ensuring that we know that Bee’s wrath extends to alleged TERFs.

Nandini Krishnan’s book on trans men has been criticised heavily and the ‘flaying’ doesn’t come as a surprise.

Our personal favourite:
Big shoutout to festival co-director, William Dalrymple. He may be missing from the festival this time around but his presence will always occupy our thoughts and Facebook DMs.

Considering Zee news channel’s biased reporting and bigoted coverage of news, Many have slammed the event and are boycotting it for it’s continued association with Zee. Umar Khalid, who was attacked by a gunmen outside the Constitution Club in Delhi, had also called out Zee for running propaganda that fuelled hatred against him endangered his life. Ahead of 2018 assembly elections, Zee had run a programme where it had labelled Congress’ manifesto as ‘Muslim-centric’. On several other occasions, the channel has run fake news and has displayed doctored images and videos, ostensibly aimed at rousing anti-Muslim sentiment.
