Industrialist Rahul Bajaj on Friday, January 4 declined an invitation to meet Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat. Bajaj was in Nagpur to attend former acting chief justice of Bombay High Court and Gandhian Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari’s funeral.
According to a Times of India report, Bajaj was invited by RSS Nagpur city chief Rajesh Loya at Sarvodaya Ashram, where Dharmadhikari’s mortal remains were kept for paying last respects. The Bajaj Group chairman reportedly did not comment at the Ashram and declined the invitation later. “I may not be able to make it this time, as I have to land early at Pune. As such I do not have any purpose to meet Bhagwatji. Anyway, on my next visit, I would certainly find time to come and pay him my regards,” said Bajaj.
In June 2018, former President Pranab Mukherjee faced criticism for visiting the RSS headquarters in Nagpur.
