Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced, on January 2, that imprisoned tribal folk in the state, who are innocent of having committed any crimes, would be released from prison.
Baghel, who embarked on a two-day state-tour on Tuesday, addressed the media at Bastar’s Circuit House. According to a Dainik Jagran report, Baghel said that his administration would release innocent tribals who were jailed because of political vendetta.
Speaking on the issue of prevalent Naxalism in the state, Baghel categorically said he would not be engaging in talks with Naxals. Speaking about his administration’s move to eliminate the problem of Naxalism, he added that he would be speaking with those affected by Naxalism before his administration took any further steps in that regard.
