Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan slammed Times Now for falsely accusing him and the previous Congress government in the state for the fire in Mumbai’s Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Kamgar hospital on Monday, December 17.

In a couple of tweets, criticising the channel’s  report, Chavan pointed out, “The desperate attempt by Times Now to blame the tragic fire incident at ESIC Kamgar Hospital on me is an outrageous act to please their Masters’. Circular in the report was issued on 30 Oct 2014. I demitted office on 26 Sept 2014. I expected some basic research before reporting.”

Times Now had reported that it had accessed a circular issued erstwhile Congress government in October. Reportedly, accordingly to Times Now, the circular stated, “There was no need to renew initial fire approval.”

In his second tweet, adding Times Now’s video, Chavan added, “The State was run by BJP through Governor’s rule. Will it question to the people in power on that day? I demand an unconditional apology from @TimesNow . @navikakumar  @RShivshankar.”
