Leaders of key opposition parties from across the country have assembled in New Delhi to formulate strategy for a grand alliance ahead of the 2019 General Elections. N Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief called for the meeting to discuss an anti-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) front.
Reportedly, aside from Congress’ Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders including West Bengal CM Mamata Bannerjee, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar, National Conference (NC) chairman Farooq Abdullah, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) leader Sharad Yadav and Dravid Munnetra Kazakham (DMK) president MK Stalin are expected to attend the meeting.

NDTV reported that Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kerjiwal would also be joining in the meeting, sparking rumours that the AAP may be playing a role in the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance).

NCP leader DP Tripathi told Financial Express, “Price rise, the ill-effects of demonetisation and the GST, unemployment and threats to the Constitution will also be on the agenda of the meeting.”
However, reportedly, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav will not be attending the meeting.
