Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly made unworthy remarks about Sonia Gandhi being a widow.
While addressing an election rally in Rajasthan on December 4, Modi launched an attack on the Congress party and stooped down to the level of referring to Sonia Gandhi as “this widow in the Congress”. In the speech he said, “Can you imagine? The Congress ran a government in our country, where an unborn daughter was not just shown born but also dead and her widow pension was also shown to be paid. Which widow used to receive this money? Who was this widow in the Congress whose account this money used to be transferred?”
Now, Modi is facing flak on social media for making such an insensitive comment against his political opponent. Former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah said, “New low by Narendra Modi. His insensitive comments on opposition leaders are a blot on the chair of PM. There are many things that he has to learn from Mr Manmohan Singh. He has insulted the whole women fraternity in his urge to target opposition.”

Only a cold-blooded, cold-hearted man can make such reprehensible remarks on a widow. His own mother is a widow, he should have remembered that. Only a woman can understand that how she copes with her life after losing the better half of her life. @narendramodi #SoniaGandhi

Lies,False propaganda and going low so much that a PM has the courage to comment on widowhood, but we shouldn’t be so shocked because it is in the blood of BJP. If @narendramodi has the courage then why not have a press conference on #RafaleScam soon ?https://t.co/prMVgy0TaC

This is a historic low from the Prime Minister himself. Even if there is a scam in any widow scheme, to mock those in Cong who might have actually lost their husbands – including Sonia Gandhi – is downright pathetic! Shocked!#RajasthanElection2018 #RajasthanElection2018 pic.twitter.com/E9COuYFcly

Sonia Gandhi’s husband, former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in an incident of suicide bombing in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai on May 21, 1991. The bombing was carried out by Thenmozhi Rajaratnam of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a militant organization from Sri Lanka.
