Merely four days after an Uttar Pradesh police inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was killed by a mob in Bulandshahr, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath referred to Singh’s death incident as an ‘accident’ on Friday, December 7 at an event in New Delhi.
“There was no case of mob lynching, what happened in Bulandshahr was an accident,” Adityanath said, reported News 18.
In a video of the violence in Bulandshahr, a mob can be seen chasing inspector Singh. Someone screams, “Maaro, take his gun”. Singh is attacked by the mob, and can be seen lying unconscious at the end of the video. The cause of SIngh’s death has been reported to be a bullet injury to the head. He was also attacked with a sharp instrument before he died.

Singh’s family members had travelled to Lucknow to meet the chief minister on Thursday, December 6.
A mob of some 400 people went on a rampage in Siana area of Bulandshahr district on Monday, December 3, apparently after right-wing activists were angered by the discovery of alleged cow carcasses strewn in a nearby jungle.
The mob set fire to dozens of vehicles, hurled stones and also fired guns at police who retaliated with gunfire. In the violence, Singh, the station house officer of Siana, and 20-year-old Sumit Kumar were killed.
Several right-wing men have reportedly been named in the FIR for the murder of Singh, including a Bharatiya Janata Party youth wing member, a Vishwa Hindu Parishad member and Bajrang Dal’s district head Yogesh Raj.
