Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh ordered the transfer of two teachers who had been accused of stripping eighth-standard girl students in the Kundal village of the Fazilka district in Punjab. The students were stripped after a used sanitary pad was found in one of the school toilets.

The issue was brought to attention when the aggrieved girls complained to their guardians about the incident. Captain Singh then instructed Krishan Kumar, Punjab’s Education Department Secretary to conduct an enquiry into the matter and submit his report to him personally, along with necessary action taken, by Monday.

A few days ago, the used sanitary pad was found by a teacher who asked the seventh-standard students if they had disposed off the pad. Following their denial, the eighth-standard students were enquired about the subject in such a manner.

Family members of the victims said that the girls were afraid of going to school fearing being punished. Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Punjab government said that the teachers would be facing additional disciplinary action.
