On 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Statue of Unity in Gujarat to honour the freedom fighter and India’s first home minister.
The ‘State of Unity‘ cost the Indian public Rs 3,000 crore. Notably, this statue has been built on the land of tribals, who observed a ‘silent day’ today, to protest the unveiling.
On the other hand, the Kerala government today, has presented a Rs 20 crore housing complex to fishermen who lost their homes in Cyclone Ockhi a year ago.

Reportedly, the Narendra Modi government has also spent Rs 5,000 crore on advertising in four-and-a-half years, the amount which was spent by the Manmohan Singh government in 10 years, prompting people to question the misplaced priorities of the government.
