In a video that went viral on social media on Wednesday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat can be seen giving a grand welcome to businessman Gautam Adani, who is considered to be very close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Both Adani and Rawat, can be seen giggling and gifting bouquets to each other.

Interestingly, Adani is facing several lawsuits, the most recent one slapped by the government of Australia. The Queensland government in Australia is prosecuting Adani’s company, Abbot Point Bulkcoal, for allegedly discharging excessive sediment water off the Great Barrier Reef.
Earlier this year, Congress demanded a special investigation team (SIT) probe in Rs 29,000 crore scam against 40 Indian companies which submitted inflated bills for coal imported from Indonesia. Adani’s company is one of the main accused, reported The Hindu.
“Among the prominent companies that have been issued show-cause notices by the Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) is Prime Minister’s favourite industrialist Gautam Adani. It also includes the capitalist associated with the Rafale deal, Anil Ambani… Essar is also there…We must also remember that 70% of the coal that is imported is done through the Adani group,” said former environment minister Jairam Ramesh.
When Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are seen cozying up to businessmen with dubious dealings, the allegations of crony capitalism against Narendra Modi government do not seem baseless at all.
