New Delhi: A week after humiliating defeats in the Lok Sabha elections to Gorakhpur and Phulpur constituencies, the Yogi Aditynath government on Monday encountered another trouble when a cabinet minister came out all guns blazing against the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).

Om Prakash Rajbhar, president of the BJP ally, Suhaildev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), alleged that the saffron party was not “respecting its alliance partner”. Rajbhar also said that BJP’s future was doomed as the party had “lost its mental balance in the wake of the brute majority handed over to it in the UP Assembly”.

The comments came against the backdrop of BJP government’s celebrations on the completion of a year in office, news agency IANS reported.

“What is the use of celebrating one year of this government? We formed an alliance with the BJP because we hoped the BJP would work for the poor, but nothing of that sort is happening,” Rajbhar was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Rajbhar further accused the BJP of emphasising too much on temples and doing nothing for the poor. “A lot is being said, claimed and written but on the ground, nothing is seen,” he told IANS.

The SBSP president asserted that people had started losing confidence in the BJP and the defeats in Gorakhpur and Phulpur were a result of the same. Rajbhar further added that four of his legislators will not participate in the Rajya Sabha polls till BJP president Amit Shah mends ways with him.
