Former Chhattisgarh minister and Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) leader Nanki Ram Kanwar has organised a prayer meet from July 16-22 to prevent drought.
The prayers will be held at Shrishti Institute Of Medical Science And Research Centre in Korba, Chhatisgarh. Many priests are participating in the event to please the rain gods, Go News reported.
“I believe that the prayers will help us to see rains in Chhattisgarh,” Kanwar said.
This is not the first instance when a BJP leader tried to appease the rain gods. For good monsoon, Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Woman and Child Development Lalita Yadav allegedly married off two frogs as part of an elaborate ritual held at a temple in Chhattarpur last month.
