Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is reportedly using the Indian army as the face for seeking donations through the Narendra Modi Mobile App.
On BJP’s various social media platforms, pictures of Prime Minister Modi posing with army men have been shared with the caption, “He works for them. Stand with him to secure India. Donate now to support NAMO again in 2019.”
Stand with PM Modi for safe and secure borders of India.

Ironically, even as the BJP uses the Indian armed forces as its electoral gambit, it continues to turn a blind eye to the their needs. In December, the Modi-led government rejected the Indian armed forces’ demand for a hike in the Military Service Pay (MSP). Over than 1.12 lakh military personnel (including junior commissioned officers) suffered a setback following the Centre’s decision.
Reportedly, the military personnel had asked for a hike in the MSP to Rs 10,000 from Rs 5,000. The finance ministry rejected the demand, as it did not want to incur a financial outgo of about Rs 610 crores. The present MSP fixture was introduced about 10 years ago, in 2008.
